〈貓語〉

 

咪喵固熟聞，何足以之群。

呼嚕舒心語，嘶嘶警覺文。

聲音傳半意，手勢補餘分。

舉爪輕抓脖，隨時可駕雲。

"고양이의 언어"

 

야옹야옹은 물론 자주 들어 친숙하지만

그것 하나로 어찌 소통에 충분하겠습니까

 

가르랑가르랑은 편한 마음의 어휘이고

하악하악은 경계심의 표현입니다

 

소리로는 뜻의 반이 전달될 뿐이니

손짓발짓으로 나머지를 채웁니다

 

앞발을 들어 목 안을 가볍게 긁는 건

언제라도 구름을 타고 달릴 수 있다는 뜻이랍니다

"Cat's Language"

 

Meow meow is familiar for we hear that a lot,

But how could that be enough for communication?

 

There's purring, a word for being comfortably at east;

And yowling, a phrase of vigilance.

 

The sound delivers only half of the intent;

The gesture carries the rest.

 

Lifting the paw to gently scratch the neck

Means being ready to take off on a cloud at any time.
