奉呈

 

海闊山高又客居，殊方文物眼前疎。

巧蛛垂織應無戲，靈鵲飛鳴似不虛。

一片隨人千里月，百端含意數行書。

短篇莫寫相思字，離別頻驚倦夢餘。

 

죽서 박씨

 

"받들어 올립니다"

 

바다는 넓고 산은 높은데

   게다가 객지에 머물고 있습니다

낯선 땅 문물이 모두

   눈에 생소합니다

 

교묘한 거미 줄 타고 집을 지으니

   분명 그냥 놀려는 게 아니겠고;

영험한 까치 날며 짖으니

   공허하게 그러는 건 아닌 듯합니다

 

한 조각 사람을 따르지만

   천 리 비치는 달;

백 갈래 뜻을 품었지만

   몇 줄 뿐인 글월

 

짧게 쓸 편지이니

   그립다는 말은 쓰지 않겠습니다

헤어짐에 자주 놀라니

   꿈에서 깨어나서도 노곤합니다

"Reverently Presented"

 

The ocean is vast, the mountains high,

   And I live in a strange place.

Cultural things of a remote land

   Are unfamiliar before my eyes.

 

A delicate spider hanging on a line to weave

   Must not be a mere playful maneuver;

An efficacious magpie flying and crying

   Seem not to be an empty utterance.

 

That one sliver that chases me

   Is the moon that shines on thousand miles;

Those hundred threads that hold my thoughts

   Are in a few lines of writing.

 

It is a brief letter, and I will spare

   Those words of mutual longing.

Partings have startled me often,

   And I am languid, even as I wake up from a dream.
