〈次伽倻寺住老詩三首〉之二

 

林下閑開綠野堂，

溪山勝景稻魚鄉。

菊將松竹成三逕，

琴與圖書共一床。

但願交遊繼支許，

何須富貴羨金張。

古人可笑歸來晚，

宦路風波浩莫量。

 

       注：五句〈支許〉指晉僧支遁與當時名士許詢。六句〈金張〉為金日磾（日，音密）與張安世。金、張二家為漢時名門大家。

수풀 아래서 한가롭게 펼쳐진

      푸른 들이 집을 이루고

시내와 산의 아름다운 경치는

      벼와 물고기의 고향입니다

 

국화가 소나무, 대나무와

      세 가지 길을 이루었고

거문고는 그림과 책과

      더불어 한 상에 놓였습니다

 

지둔과 허순의 사귐을

      계속할 수 있기를 바랄 뿐이니

김씨 댁과 장씨 댁의 부귀를

      부러워해 무엇 하겠습니까

 

늦어서 비로소 돌아온 옛사람들은

      그냥 웃어 넘기시지요

벼슬길에 넘쳐나는 세찬 풍랑은

      헤아리려 하지 않겠습니다

 

     주: 다섯째 행의 〈지허支許〉는 진나라 스님 지둔 (314?-366)과 당시의 명사 허순 (생몰년 미상) 사이의 교우관계를 지칭합니다. 여섯째 행의 〈김장金張〉은 한나라 때 명문대가를 이룬 김일제 (기원전 134-86)와 장안세 (기원전 62년 사망)를 가리킵니다.

"Following the Rhyme of Old Abbot at Kaya Monastery," Second of Three Poems

 

Leisurely spread under the woods

        Is the house of green field,

The splendid scene of mountains and brooks

        Is the home of rice plants and fish.

 

Chrysanthemums, with pine and bamboo trees,

        Make three different paths;

The zither and paintings and books,

        Share together the same desk.

 

I only wish to continue the friendship

        Of Monk Zhidun nnd Xu Xun;

Why would I need to envy the wealth and nobility

        Of Jin and Zhang Clans?

 

For those ancient people who returned belatedly

        We can just laugh about.

I would not venture to measure the wind and waves

        That overflows the road to official career.

 

       Notes: Line #5 uses the story of friendship between Monk Zhidun (314?-366) and Xu Xun (dates unknown), both of Jin Dynasty.  Line #6 refers to two wealthy clans in the Han of Jin Midi (134-86 BCE) and Zhang Anshi (d. 62 BCE).
