〈次伽倻寺住老詩三首〉之三

 

流年逐水去堂堂，

農圃餘生寄此鄉。

山雨來時新得句，

樹陰深處屢移床。

家貧只有書堪讀，

客至還無席可張。

早晚飄然陪杖屨，

山林高趣共論量。

한 해 한 해가 물을 따르듯 흐르니

      나도 당당하게 가서

밭을 갈며 사는 여생을

      이 마을에 맡기려 합니다

 

산에 비가 내릴 때는

      몇 구절 시를 새로 얻고

나무 그늘이 깊은 곳에서는

      몇 번이고 평상을 옮깁니다

 

집이 가난해

      읽을 수 책이 있을 뿐이어서

손님이 와도

      깔아드릴 돗자리조차 없지만

 

언젠가 머지않아 둥실 떠다니듯

      스님의 지팡이와 나막신을 따르며

산 숲에 사는 기품 있는 뜻을

      함께 가늠하며 이야기하겠습니다

"Following the Rhyme of Old Abbot at Kaya Monastery," Third of Three Poems

 

Year after year, time flows as if following water,

        And I shall go with dignity,

And entrust to this village

        My remaining life of tilling the field.

 

When the mountain rain falls,

        I would find new poems;

Where the tree shade is dense,

        I move the flat bench time and time again.

 

My family is poor, and does not have much

        Other than books to read;

Guests may arrive, not finding

        Even a straw mat spread for them.

 

But sooner or later, I will float along,

        Following your staff and clogs,

To weigh and to discuss

        The lofty intent of a life in mountain woods.
