李仁復（字，克禮，號，樵隱，1308-1374）

 

〈送柳思庵〉

 

人間膏火自相煎，

明哲如公史可傳。

已向危時安社稷，

更從平地作神仙。

五湖夢斷煙波綠，

三逕秋深野菊鮮。

顧我未能投绂去，

邇來雙鬢雪飄然。

 

       注：七句首字〈顧〉，《東文選》作〈媿〉（卷十五）。思庵，柳淑（1316-1369）之號也。首句〈膏火自煎〉，人因才能而招致禍患之謂也，語出《莊子·人間世》。

사람들 사이에서는 기름 등불을 켜

      스스로를 지지고 서로 지지고 하니

사암공처럼 지혜롭고 사리에 밝은 분은

      역사가 전할 만합니다.

 

이미 위험한 때를 맞이해

      토지신과 곡식신을 안정시키셨고

더구나 평범한 곳에서 와서

      신선이 되셨습니다

 

다섯 개 호수의 꿈은 끊어져

      물안개 속 물결이 푸르고

세 갈래 길에 가을이 깊어

      들국화가 신선합니다

 

관복 허리띠를 풀어 버리지 못하는

      저를 보십시오

요즈음에는 양쪽 귀밑머리가

      눈이 온 듯 살랑댑니다

 

     주: 일곱 째 행의 첫 글자 〈보다 顧〉가 《東文選》에는 〈부끄럽다 媿〉로 적혀 있습니다. "등불을 켜 스스로를 지진다 膏火自煎"는 첫 행의 표현은 《莊子·人間世》에서 나온 말로 사람이 자신의 재능으로 인해 화를 겪는 일의 비유입니다.

"Seeing Off Honorable Sa-am Yu Suk"

 

People light the oil lamp

        And end up burning themselves and others.

Those who are so wise and sensible as Your Honor

        Shall be celebrated in history.

 

Facing precarious times, you have already

        Brought peace to gods of soil and grain;

Coming from an ordinary place, you have even

        Become a divine celestial.

 

The dream of five lakes have been disturbed,

        And the waves in the mist are green;

Autumn on three paths is deep,

        And wild chrysanthemums are refreshing.

 

Just look at me, unable to untie and throw away

        The sash on the official robe,

Having added recently the hair on the temples

        Fluttering like snow.

 

       Note: Line #7 shows a textual variation.  The version in the Tong mun sōn, the Selected Literature of the East, uses "to feel ashamed" instead of "to look."  The phrase in Line #1 of "burning oneself by lighting an oil lamp" means talent and ability of a person bringing disasters to oneself.  This expression comes from the "The World Amidst People (renjianshi)" chapter of the Zhuangzi.
