思鄉

 

鄉園十載負登臨，世態隨人變古今。

萬里風烟孤月逈，千山草木白雲深。

生原似夢還非夢，事不留心易動心。

宋玉秋來多感慨，殘魂欲斷數聲砧。

"고향을 그립니다"

 

어언 십 년, 고향 땅 쪽을 보겠다고

   언덕에 오르지도 못했습니다

세상살이가 사람 따라 변하는 건

   예나 지금이나 마찬가지이지요

 

바람과 안개 펼쳐진 만 리 밖으로

   외로운 달 머나멀고;

풀과 나무 덮인 천 겹 산에

   흰 구름이 깊습니다

 

삶이 꿈 같지만

   여전히 꿈이 아니고;

일은 마음에 담아두지 않아도

   걸핏하면 마음을 흔들어 댑니다

 

가을이 오면 송옥(宋玉)도

   생각이 많았지요

부서진 영혼이 몇 마디

   다듬잇돌 소리를 끊고 싶어 합니다

 

주: 일곱번째 행의 송옥(宋玉)은 굴원(屈原)을 이어 초사를 쓴 시인입니다. 그가 쓴 〈구변（九辯）〉은 다음과 같이 시작됩니다. "슬프다, 가을의 기운이여, 쏴아쏴 부는 바람에 초목이 흔들려 떨어지고 스러지네. （悲哉，秋之為氣也，蕭瑟兮草木搖落而變衰。）"

"Longing for Home"

 

For ten years, I haven't climbed

   Any hills to look toward my home.

The way of the world turns hinging on the people

   Now as well as in old days.

 

Far off above the wind and mist of ten-thousand miles

   Is the lone moon;

Deep over the grass and trees of thousand mountains

   Are the white clouds.

 

Life may feel like a dream,

   But is still not a dream;

Affairs not harbored in the heart

   Are quick to shake up the heart.

 

Song Yu was full of thoughts

   When autumn came.

Shattered soul of mine wishes to stop

   Those few notes of cloth-fulling batons.

 

Note: Song Yu in the seventh line was a poet in the "Song of Chu (Chuci)" traditions. One of his celebrated poems, "Nine Changes (九辯)," begins with the following lines: "How sad is the air of autumn. Rustling, desolate grass and trees shake, fall, and fade away. (悲哉，秋之為氣也，蕭瑟兮草木搖落而變衰。)"
