暮春欲雨

 

博山香歇晚風清，在和堂前伴鶴行。

野外雲沉高閣暗，溪邊雨入遠山鳴。

沽來淺碧連宵醉，悵送殘紅隔世情。

遠樹濛濛春色裏，回頭東望杳    王城。

"늦은 봄날 비가 오시려나 봅니다"

 

신선산 향로에 향불 잦아들고

   저녁 바람이 맑아

재화당 앞에서

   학과 함께 노닙니다

 

들 밖에는 무거운 구름에

   높은 누각이 어둑어둑하고;

시냇가에 뿌리는 비로

   먼 산이 웅웅 웁니다

 

푸르둥둥한 술을 받아다가

   며칠 밤을 취하고;

붉은 꽃잎을 지는 것을 아쉬워 하며

   다음 생의 사랑을 기약합니다

 

멀리 서있는 나무들

   봄 기운 속에 아련해

고개 돌려 동쪽을 보니

   임금님 계신 곳 아득합니다

 

주: "푸르둥둥한 술"로 번역한 淺碧은 글자의 뜻대로 "옅은 푸른 색"이라 읽으면 뜻이 잘 통하지 않습니다. 碧蟻、綠蟻，綠酒등 술과 연관된 어휘로 읽어 술의 이름이나 술의 별칭으로 새기는 것이 좋겠습니다.

"It Looks Rain on a Late Spring Day"

 

The incense fades in the fairy mountain burner,

   A clear evening breeze blows in,

And I stroll before the In-Harmony Hall

   Accompanying cranes.

 

Clouds sink out in the field,

   And the high tower is dark;

Rain falls on the brookside,

   And faraway mountains echo.

 

I fetch the greenish wine,

   To get drunk night after night;

I send away the red falling petals,

   Vowing love in the next life.

 

Outlying trees

   Are dim in vernal colors,

And I turn around to look eastward

   To the distant city of His Majesty.

 

Note: The word translated here as "greenish wine" is qianbi 淺碧, which literally is "shallow blue." It looks here the name of a wine or an alternative reference to wine, related to such words as biyi 碧蟻, lüyi 綠蟻, and lüjiu 綠酒.
