野老

 

背山臨水世相違，繞宅桑麻晝掩扉。

桃葉巖邊吹笛過，柳枝江畔貫魚歸。

招邀里社嘗新酒，羅列兒孫戲綵衣。

無樂無荒真自在，野人隨處得天機。

"촌 늙은이"

 

등 뒤엔 산, 앞에는 물,

   세상과는 멀리 떨어져 사니

뽕나무, 삼베나무로 뒤덮인 집은

   낮에도 사립문이 닫혀있습니다

 

복숭아 바위 옆을

   풀피리 불며 지나

버들가지 강가에서

   물고기를 꿰어 돌아옵니다

 

마을사람들을 불러

   새로 담은 술을 맛보고

아들 손자들과 늘어서서

   색동옷 입고 놀이를 합니다

 

즐거울 것도 지나칠 것도 없이

   진실한 자신으로 살면서

그 촌 사람은 어디를 가든

   하늘의 뜻을 얻습니다

"A Rustic Old Man"

 

Mountains in back, waters in front,

   And far apart from worldliness,

His house is overlaid with mulberry and hemp bushes,

   With the twig gate closed even during the day.

 

He passes by the side of the Peach Blossom Rock,

   Blowing on a reed pipe;

He returns from the bank of the Willow Branch River,

   Carrying a string of fish.

 

He beckons to invite villagers

   For tasting the new wine;

And lines up with children

   To play in colorful dress.

 

Seeking no pleasure, no excess,

   Being there for his truthful self,

The rustic man gets the Heaven's intent

   Wherever he goes.
