早鴈

 

一聲哀叫五更初，碧落雲開萬里餘。

塞北誰催前夜發，江南又向去年居。

鳴將傳信微霜至，飛不成行數字踈。

來去一天隨氣候，炎涼世路較何如。

（一字重，末句末二字，警修堂本作〈如何〉，作〈何如〉方能入韻。）

"새벽 기러기"

 

한 마디 애처로운 소리에

   새벽 동이 트고

구름 걷히면서 푸른 하늘이

   만 리 멀리까지 내립니다

 

변방 북쪽에선 누가 서둘렀길래

   지난 밤 떠났고

강 남쪽으로 다시

   지난 해 머문 그 자리를 향하나요

 

울어 전하는 소식에

   무서리 내릴 것이고

날지만 줄을 이루지 못하니

   만드는 글자 띄엄띄엄 합니다

 

한 하늘 길, 오고 다시 감은

   오직 기후를 따르니

뜨거웠다 찼다 하는 세상 길과

   견주어 보면 어떨까요

The sound of melancholic honk

   Breaks the dawn,

As the clouds open and the azure descends

   To ten thousand miles and more.

 

In the north of the frontier, who scurried you

   To take off last evening?

To the south of the river, you bound for

   The place you'd stayed yesteryear.

 

The cries send tidings

   That early frost will soon fall;

The flight does not form a line

   Too sparse to make a letter.

 

The same sky, but coming and going there

   Follow only the seasons—

How about comparing that with

   The way of the world, now hot now cold?
