〈路邊零食行〉

 

山珍海錯只心領，

熊掌象鼻畫上餅。

饕餮大餐亦不求，

平常小吃余憧憬。

香酥節日米花糖，

濃郁晨間熱豆漿。

甜蜜當推芭樂汁，

清涼能比苦瓜湯。

解饑解渴陽春麵，

下酒叫來蚵仔煎。

巷口街邊小小攤，

隨時隨地隨心選。

遊華美夢多香色，

數十年來時記憶。

書冊友朋當佔多，

不能缺少依零食。

"길가 군것질의 노래"

 

산과 바다의 진귀한 음식은

      그냥 마음으로만 받습니다

곰 발바닥도 코끼리 코도

      그림의 떡일 뿐이지요

야수 도철에게 바치는 잔칫상도

      원하지 않습니다

늘 먹던 사소한 음식들을

      나는 그리워 합니다

명절이면 향긋하고 바삭바삭하고

      달콤한 쌀튀밥 강정

새벽에는 걸쭉한 맛

      따끈한 콩국

꿀처럼 달콤한 건

      과바즙이 첫째

시원하고 맑은 것은

      쓴 오이 국에 비할 수 있나요

시장하고 목마를 때는

      양춘면 한 그릇

술안주로 시키려면

      굴전이 좋지요

골목입구 길가

      조그마한 노점들

언제나 어디서나

      마음 가는 대로 고를 수 있지요

중화민국에 유학시절 아름다운 꿈은

      향내도 색깔도 갖가지여서

수십 년이 지나도록

      시도때도 없이 기억이 납니다

책과 친구들을

      물론 제일 생각하지만

군것질에 의지한 걸

      빠뜨릴 수는 없지요

"A Song of Snacking on the Street"

 

The rare and precious from mountains and seas,

        I receive only by my heart.

Bear's paw and elephant trunk

        Are just a cake in a painting.

The feast presented to the voracious Taotie

        Is not what I seek.

Small everyday snacks

        Are what I long for.

The sweet smell and crispiness of popped rice cake

        On festive days;

Rich, hearty flavor of warm soy milk

        On early mornings.

For sweet as honey,

        The choice is guava juice;

For cool and refreshing,

        Nothing beats bitter melon soup.

A bit hungry and thirsty?

        How about a bowl of yangchun-noodles in plain sauce?

Food to go with drinks?

        Oyster pancakes would do.

Small stalls everywhere,

        In street corners and on roadsides,

Whenever and wherever,

        I could choose to my heart’s content.

The beautiful dream about the study in Taiwan

        In many scents and colors,

I have remembered

        Every now and then for many decades.

Books and friends

        Account for a large part,

But my memory cannot do

        Without relying on snacks.
