〈童話：百歲公主〉

 

        她曾經是白雪公主就像古老兒童故事裏的那個少女她生來已具白嫩皮膚黑亮頭髮和紅潤嘴唇毫無疑問地被稱作白雪公主她長大她的美麗也隨者長了天天照著鏡子竊竊私語說整個世界上我最美那架年青鏡子就總是點了點頭她耽溺於鏡裏期間無數的王子來敲她的窗口可是她沒聽見後來她的皮膚灰黃斑駁頭髮霜白嘴唇像肛門般皺皺癟癟了人們就開始叫她百歲公主了任何王子也不再來找她了她開著咯吱咯吱嚮的窗戶嘟囔他媽的王子們總是來得太早或者太晚她每晚對著老鏡子訴說哀求我還是美吧如今鏡子也已經老了只守著點頭的習慣公主直到一百歲在眼睛瞎了的鏡子裏永遠美麗。

"A Fairy Tale: From Princess Snow White to Centenarian Princess"

 

        She used to be Princess Snow White. Just like the girl in the old fairy tale book, she was born with soft white skin, jet-black hair, and florid red lips. She was called Snow White without a hint of doubt. She grew up, and her beauty grew together. Looking into the mirror, she whispered day after day. I am the fairest of all, and the young mirror always nodded in assent. While she was indulged in the mirror, numerous princes came and knocked on her windows, but thatose did not fall on her ear. Then her skin turned sallow and mottled, her hair, hoary white, and her lips wrinkled like the anus. People started to call her Centenarian Princess. There were no princes of any kind calling on her any more. Opening a squeaky window, she grumbled. Damn it! Those princes always come either too early or too late. Every night she confided piteously to the old mirror. I am still pretty fair, am I not? The mirror is now old, keeping only the habit of nodding. All the way to turning one hundred years old, she, the princess, remained forever fair in the blinded mirror.

 

               Note: This poem plays on the near-homophonic character of two words in Korean/Chinese language: "white snow (paek-sōl/baixue 白雪)" and "hundred years of age (paek-se/baisui 百歲)." Regretfully, the playful use of the words does not translate well into other languages, including English.

  그녀는 백설 공주였다 오래된 동화책에 나오는 그 소녀처럼 하얀 피부 빛나는 검은 머리 붉은 입술로 태어났다 한 치의 의심도 없이 백설 공주라 불렸다 자라면 자라는 만큼 그 아름다움도 자랐다 그녀는 거울을 들여다보며 매일 속삭였다 내가 세상에서 제일 예뻐 젊은 거울은 늘 고개를 끄덕였다 그녀가 거울에 빠져 있는 동안 많은 왕자가 창문을 두드렸지만 들리지 않았다 피부는 누렇게 얼룩지고 머리는 백발이 되었다 입술은 항문처럼 쭈글거렸다 사람들은 그녀를 백 살 공주라 부르기 시작했다 어떤 왕자도 더이상 그녀를 찾지 않았다 그녀는 삐걱이는 창문을 열며 투덜거렸다 제기랄 왕자들은 항상 너무 일찍 오거나 늦게 온단 말이야 그녀는 밤마다 늙은 거울에 대고 애원했다 내가 아직도 아름답니 거울은 늙었고 고개를 끄덕이는 습관만 남아 있었다 백 살이 먹도록 공주인 그녀는 눈먼 거울 속에서 영원히 아름다웠다.
