〈夜聞海濤〉

 

天地東南海杳茫，

黑風吹雨暗窮荒。

初來遠客偏多懼，

十里濤聲夜撼牀。

 

신정 (자는 인백, 호는 분애, 1628-1687)

 

"한밤중 바다 파도소리가 들립니다"

 

하늘과 땅의 동남쪽으로

      바다가 아득하게 펼쳐지고,

시커먼 바람 불어대는 비로

      어두움이 거친 끝까지 닿습니다

멀리서 처음 온 나그네는

      두려움이 많은 편이어서

십 리에 펼쳐진 파도소리에

      한밤 중에 침상을 흔드는 듯합니다

"Hearing Sea Waves at Night"

 

To the southeast of the sky and the land,

        The sea spreads far into the distance,

And with the rain blown on by black wind,

        The darkness reaches the rough ends.

The traveler from afar, a stranger to this place,

        Has many forebodings.

The sound from the waves of ten miles

        Seems to shake the bed at night.
