早春

 

早春天氣已輕雷，柳眼欲開猶未開。

舊日池塘春草夢，弟兄今日喜同杯。

 

注：三句反用朱熹〈偶成〉：「少年易學老難成，一寸光陰不可輕。未覺池塘春草夢，階前梧葉已秋聲。（首句或作：少年易老學難成）」與末句同讀，所謂翻典也。

"이른 봄"

 

이른 봄의 날씨에

   천둥소리 이미 가벼워졌지만

피어나려는 버들눈은

   아직 피지 않았습니다

 

지난 날 연못가

   봄 풀 위에서 꿈을 꾼

형제자매들 오늘은 기쁘게

   함께 잔을 듭니다

 

주: 셋째 구절은 주희(朱熹, 1130-1200)의 "우연히 짓다(偶成)"를 이용합니다. 주희의 시는 "어린 시절에는 공부하기 쉽지만 늙어서는 이루기 어려우니, 한 치의 시간도 가볍게 여길 수 없다. 연못가 봄 풀 사이에서의 꿈이 채 깨기도 전에, 계단 옆 오동잎에서 벌써 가을 소리가 난다. (少年易學老難成，一寸光陰不可輕。未覺池塘春草夢，階前梧葉已秋聲。)" 첫 구절을 "어리다고 해도 쉽게 늙으니 학문을 이루기 어렵다 (少年易老學難成)"고 한 판본도 있습니다. 죽서 박씨 작품의 셋째와 넷째 구절을 함께 읽으면 주희 작품의 뜻을 뒤집어 사용했음을 알 수 있는데 이런 방법을 번전(翻典)이라 합니다.

"Early Spring"

 

The weather in early spring

   Had already lightened the thunder,

But willow buds that wish to open

   Have yet to open.

 

Having dreamt the dream

   On the spring grass by the pond,

My siblings today share

   The joy of raising the cups together.

 

Note: The third line borrows a poem by Zhu Xi (朱熹, 1130-1200) titled, "Composed by Chance (偶成)," which reads: "It is easy to study in youth, but hard to accomplish at an old age/ Even an inch of time must not be treated lightly/ Before waking up from a dream on the spring grass by the pond/ The wutong leaves by the stairs already make the sound of autumn. (少年易學老難成，一寸光陰不可輕。未覺池塘春草夢，階前梧葉已秋聲。)" The first line in some editions reads, "Youthful time easily passes and scholarship is difficult to complete. (少年易老學難成)" Reading lines #3-4 of Bak Jukseo's poem, we know that she twists the meaning of Zhu Xi's poem.
