〈次韻贈朴宜中狀元〉

 

王業中興似漢劉，

況今經濟有伊周。

遠方玉帛觀光日，

盛代衣冠復古秋。

魂夢漸踈楓葉密，

衰羸只愛草廬幽。

先生年少才名大，

莫學閑人物外遊。

 

               注：三句〈觀光〉出自《周易》觀卦六四：「觀國之光，利用賓于王。」五句似用杜甫〈夢李白，其一〉：「魂來楓林青，魂返關塞黑。」

"운을 그대로 따라 장원급제한 박의중에게 드립니다"

 

나라를 다스리는 임금의 일을 다시 일으키니

      한나라의 광무제 때와 같은데

게다가 지금은 길을 닦고 물을 건너는

      이윤과 주공이 있습니다

 

멀리서 옥과 비단을 바치며

      나라의 빛을 보는 날이 오고

흥성하는 시대의 의관이

      옛날의 제도로 돌아가는 때를 맞이하겠지요

 

영혼이 오가는 꿈은 점점 희미해지지만

      단풍 숲 이파리는 무성하고

늙고 힘이 빠지니 좋아할 것은 오로지

      외딴 초가집 하나입니다

 

그대는 나이는 어리지만

      재능이 있다는 건 잘 알려졌으니

한가한 사람들 사물의 밖으로 노니는 건

      배우지 말기 바랍니다

 

           주: 세째 구절의 〈관광觀光〉은 《주역周易》관觀괘의 네번째 효인 음효의 효사에서 왔습니다. "나라의 빛을 보고, 임금의 손님이 되는 것이 이롭다." 다섯째 구절은 두보가 이태백을 꿈에서 그리며 쓴 〈몽이백夢李白〉두 수의 첫째 중 다음 구절을 이용하는 것으로 보입니다. "그대의 혼이 오면 단풍나무 수풀이 짙게 푸르고, 그대의 혼이 가면 이 먼 변경은 컴컴합니다."

The restoration of the work of the sovereign

        Like at the time of Emperor Guangwu of Han,

Is now staffed by Yi Yin and Duke of Zhou,

        To build the roads and to cross the waters.

 

The day would come for envoys from afar

        Come with jade and silk to see the glory of the kingdom;

The time will arrive for the attire and caps

        Of prosperous generation be restored to antiquity.

 

The dream of visiting soul is thinning,

        But maple woods are dense;

Having gotten old and weak, I now only like

        A thatched cottage in seclusion.

 

You are young,

        But your talent is well widely known.

Pray not to emulate idle people,

        Who roam outside of material domains.

 

               Note: Line #3, especially the phrase, "peruse the light/glory" in it, comes from a line statement (yaoci) of the fourth line in the twentieth graph of the Yijing, Guan, which reads: "To see the light of the state and to be the guest of the prince is auspicious." Line #5 seems to use the following lines in the first of two poems on "Dreaming Li Bai" by Du Fu: "When your soul comes, leaves in the maple woods are lush; When your soul departs, this faraway frontier region turns dark."
