〈獨酌〉

 

嗜飲一生煩獨酌，

老來酒伴誠難索。

隨身月影請相陪，

深夜能酣能自樂。

 

        注：尾聯試李白（701-762）〈月下獨酌〉四首之一：「月既不解飲，影徒隨我身」之翻案。

"홀로 술 따르기"

 

술 마시기를 좋아한 한 평생

      홀로 술 따르는 걸 싫어했는데

늙어갈수록 술 같이 마실 사람을

      찾기가 참으로 어렵습니다

그냥 내 몸을 따라다니는 달과 그림자를

      그래도 함께 마시자 청하니

깊은 밤에도 알딸딸할 수 있고

      나 혼자 즐거울 수 있네요

 

           주: 세째 행은 이태백(701-762)의 〈월하독작〉네 수의 첫째, "달은 술 마시는 걸 이해하지 못하고, 그림자는 그저 내 몸을 따라다닐 뿐이네 月既不解飲，影徒隨我身"라는 구절을 변용합니다.

"Pouring Wine Alone"

 

Loving wine all my life,

        I loathed pouring a solitary cup.

I get older,

        And drinking buddies become harder to find.

Inviting the moon and my trailing shadow,

        To be my companions,

I can get tipsy late into the night

        And find joy all by myself.

 

               Note: The third line parodies a couplet by Li Bai (701-762), "The moon of course does not understand drinking; The shadow purposelessly trails my body," in the first of his four poems, "Drinking Alone Under the Moon."
