〈褫郡職〉

 

揮汗當年蜀道行，

槐陰一睡足平生。

倚樓長笛無情思，

驚破南柯夢裏榮。

 

               《東文選》編注：此詩不知誰作。世傳一吏官纔出身得郡寄。爲趙按廉所黜。有是作。

               注：按廉，即按廉使，高麗時期監察地方官之職位。首句蜀道，說其艱難。羅貫中《三國演義》：「蜀道崎嶇，遠來勞苦。」二句槐，樹名，可舉二典。一為《周禮》。周代朝廷種三槐九棘，公卿大夫分坐其下，後因之以槐棘指三公。二為〈南柯太守傳〉。廣陵人淳于棼夢中招為大槐國駙馬，當南柯太守，醒來發現在大槐樹下。

그 때 땀을 흩뿌리며

      걸었던 촉나라 향한 험한 길

홰나무 그늘에서 한 잠 잔 것이니

      평생 만족해야 하나요

누각에 감기는 긴 젓대소리

      그 매정한 느낌으로

남가의 꿈속 영광에서

      놀라 깨어 일어납니다

 

           《동문선》편자의 주: 이 시는 누가 썼는지 모른다. 세상에 전하는 말로는 관리 하나가 가까스로 출세하여 군수의 직을 얻었지만, 조씨 성의 안렴에 의해 퇴출되어 이것을 지었다고 한다.

           주: 안렴은 안렴사로 고려시대 지방관리를 감찰하는 직위였습니다. 조선 초기의 관찰사로 이어졌습니다. 첫 행의 촉도蜀道는 가기 어려움을 이야기합니다. 나관중의 《삼국연의》에 "촉으로 향하는 길은 거칠고 험해서 멀리서 오려면 힘들고 고생스럽다"라는 말이 나옵니다. 둘째 행의 홰는 나무 이름인데, 두 가지 출전을 들 수 있습니다. 첫째는 《주례》입니다. 주나라의 조정에는 홰나무과 극나무를 심고, 공경대부가 각각의 자리에 앉았습니다. 그래서 나중에는 홰극이 삼공을 뜻하게 되었습니다. 둘째는 〈남가태수전〉 입니다. 광릉사람 순우분은 꿈 속에서 대홰국의 부마가 되었고 남가의 태수가 되었는데, 깨어보니 큰 홰나무 아래에 있었다고 합니다. 그 이야기에서 남가일몽이라는 성어가 나옵니다.

"Having Been Removed from the Prefect Position"

 

I walked the rugged, winding road to Shu

        That year, dripping with sweat—

Was that a brief sleep under the acacia tree,

        Which should make me content for life?

Startled by the unfeeling tune of a long flute,

        Spiraling through this hall,

I am awakened

        From the glory of the dream in Nanke.

 

               Note from the editor of the Tong-mun-sōn, the Selected Works of the East: "I do not know who wrote this poem.  A story has it that a minor official managed to be successful, and obtained a position of a prefect. He was dismissed from the office by an inspector surnamed Cho, and wrote this poem."

               Notes: "Road to Shu" in the first line focuses on the difficulties of a process, such as travel. "Acacia tree" in the second line is related to two sources of allusion.  Firstly, the Zhouli, the Rites of Zhou. Three acacia trees and nine thorny sour jujube trees were planted at the Zhou court, marking the positions for high officials to sit. Secondly, the "Biography of Nanke Governor." Chunyu Fen, a native of Guangling, became a son-in-law of the king of Dahuai, literally, "Large Acacia," and was appointed the governor of Nanke in his dream. When he awoke from the dream, he was under a big acacia tree.  This story is the source of the idiom: "a dream of Nanke."
