〈甘露寺次惠遠韻〉

 

俗客不到處，登臨意思清。

山形秋更好，江色夜猶明。

白鳥高飛盡，孤帆獨去輕。

自慚蝸角上，半世覔功名。

 

               注：韓國稱做甘露寺之佛寺有數處，此詩所指位於高麗松都（今開城），惠遠，僧侶名，或作惠素或慧遠。

 

김부식 (자는 입지, 호는 뇌천, 1075-1151)

 

"감로사에서 혜원의 운을 따라"

 

속세의 떠돌이들은 오지 않는 곳에

올라와 내려다 보니 마음과 생각이 맑습니다

 

산의 모습은 가을에 더 좋고

강의 색깔은 밤에 오히려 밝지요

 

높이 나는 흰 새들이 사라져가고

홀로 가는 외딴 배가 가볍습니다

 

인생의 반을 달팽이 더듬이 위에 올라

업적과 명예를 쫓아다닌 게 스스로 부끄럽습니다

 

           주: 한국에 감로사라는 명칭의 사찰은 몇 군데 있습니다. 이 시에서 말하는 감로사는 개풍 오봉산에 위치해 있었고, 고려시대 개경의 대표적인 사찰이었습니다. 제목의 혜원惠遠은 승려의 이름으로 보이는데, 혜원慧遠, 또는 혜소惠素로 기록한 텍스트도 있습니다.

"Written in Sweet Dew Monastery, Following Hye-won's Rhyme"

 

Climbing to the place where no one comes from the sordid world

And looking out, my thoughts and my mind are clear.

 

The shape of a mountain is better in the fall;

The colors of a river seem brighter at night.

 

White birds soar up high and fade away;

A lone sail goes alone nimbly.

 

I feel ashamed that I have been on snails' horns,

Chasing honor and rank through half of my life.

 

               Note: There are several temples in Korea named Sweet Dew Monastery (Kam-no-sa).  The one referred to in the title, located in Kae-sōng, was one of the major Buddhist monasteries there in the capital of Ko-ryō.  Hye-won, must be the name of a monk, but there are texts that record the name as Hye-so.
