〈哀西征軍〉二首之二

 

羈危身度死生關，

欲問家鄕路轉艱。

客夜大刀懸片月，

塞天寒馬瘦三山。

雲橫北嶺孤鴻急，

草歇南園白露團。

辛苦悲懷休更說，

言纔人耳骨先酸。

 

               注：四句〈三山〉之地理位置及歷史由來尚待確認，似是鴨綠江邊古山城之名。

집 떠난 몸 아슬아슬하게

      죽음과 삶의 문턱을 드나들고

고향소식을 묻고 싶지만

      구불구불 험난한 길입니다

 

객지의 밤 칼끝에는

      조각달이 걸렸고

변방 싸늘한 하늘 아래 말들은

      삼산에서 말라갑니다

 

북쪽 산마루에 걸린 구름이

      외로운 기러기를 재촉하고

남쪽 뜰 마른 풀에는

      흰 이슬이 둥글게 맺혔습니다

 

마음에 품은 쓰고 아린 슬픔은

      다시 말하지 마시지요

말이 내 귓가에 다다를 때면

      뼈가 먼저 시립니다

 

           주: 네째 행 "삼산"의 지리적 위치와 역사적 유래는 확인하지 못했습니다. 압록강 주위의 옛 산성의 이름으로 추정합니다.

"Lamenting for the Army of the Westward Campaign" Second of Two Poems

 

The precarious body away from home

        Goes in and out between life and death.

I wish to inquire after my home,

        But the road is long and winding.

 

On the large sword at night in a strange land

        Hangs a crescent moon;

Horses shivering under the sky of the border region,

        Get emaciated in the Three Mountains.

 

Clouds hanging across the mountain ridges in the north

        Hasten a lone goose;

On the grass withered on the field in the south

        Are forming round white dews.

 

As for the bitter sorrows in the bosom,

        Let us not talk about them.

The bones ache before

        The words come to my ears.

 

               Note: Three Mountains in the fourth line, the geographic and historical information has yet to be studies.  It seems to be an old walled city at a strategic location near the Yalu River.
