최치원,"봄날 새벽 우연히 씁니다 春曉偶書"

崔致遠（號孤雲，857-915）

 

〈春曉偶書〉

 

叵耐東流水不回，

只催詩景惱人來。

含情朝雨細復細，

弄豔好花開未開。

亂世風光無主者，

浮生名利轉悠哉。

思量可恨劉伶婦，

強勸夫郎疎酒盃。

 

               注：尾聯用劉伶事。劉伶竹林七賢之一。其嗜酒之逸話甚多。例如，其妻勸戒酒，劉伶對曰：「吾不能自禁，惟當祝鬼神自誓耳，便可具酒肉。」酒至自誓曰：「天生劉伶，以酒為名，一飲一斛，五斗解酲，婦兒之言，慎不可聽。」《晉書·劉伶傳》

"봄날 새벽 우연히 씁니다"

 

동쪽으로 흐른 물이 돌아오지 않는 건

      참으로 참아 견디기 어렵습니다

시를 지을만한 경치를 서둘러 보내 버려

      사람을 애타게 합니다

 

정이 담긴 아침 비가

      부슬부슬 또 부슬부슬 내렸는데

요염한 예쁜 꽃은

      피어났나요 아직 피지 않았나요

 

어지러운 세상의 풍광에

      주인이 없으니

떠돌이로 살면서 명예나 이익에는

      느긋하게 되었습니다

 

생각해 보면 류링의 처는

      참 미웠지요

억지로 낭군에게

      술을 좀 작작 마시라 했다니까요

 

           주: 마지막 연은 류링 (劉伶, 221전후 – 300 전후)의 이야기를 씁니다. 류링은 죽림칠현의 하나로, 술을 좋아해 많은 일화를 남겼습니다. 예를 들어, 그의 아내가 술을 끊으라고 강권하자, 류링이 대답하기를, "내가 스스로 끊을 수가  없으니 반드시 귀신의 축복을 받으며 선서를 해야 합니다." 제단이 마련되자 선서하여 이르기를, "하늘이 류링을 낳아 술로 명성을 얻으라 했으니, 한 번 마시면 한 섬, 다섯 말의 술로 속을 풉니다. 아낙과 아이들의 이야기는 따르지 않도록 조심해야 합니다." 선서가 끝나고 제사상의 술과 안주로 대취한 류링의 모습은 쉽게 상상할 수 있겠습니다. Ch'oe Ch'i-wōn (857 – 915)

 

"Writing Fortuitously at Daybreak in Springtime"

 

Unbearable is the water flowing eastward

        And never coming back,

The scenes worthy of a poem are scurried away,

        Making me so anxious.

 

The morning rain, harboring love,

        Was gently drizzling on and on;

Flowers of sensual charm,

        Are they abloom or not yet?

 

Beautiful scenery in a chaotic time

        Is without a fixed master;

Fame and fortune in a floating life,

        I have become indifferent.

 

Come to think of it,

        Liu Ling's wife was really repugnant,

When she tried to force his man

        To stay away from drinking.

 

               Note: The last couplet alludes to the story of Liu Ling (c. 221- c. 300), one of the "Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove. There are many episodes of his love of drinking.  For instance, being forcefully exhorted by his wife to abstain from drinking, he replied by saying, "I won't be able to control it just by my own volition. The only way is to be blessed by spirits and ghosts as I take an oath. You may get wine and meaty food ready for a sacrifice." When the wine was ready, he took an oath: "Heaven brought me to life, to earn my name by drinking. So, I drink ten bottles, and five more for remedying hangover.
