〈擦鞋少年〉
擦著皮鞋，他擦擦星星。
摘下破曉時分的星星，裝滿擦鞋箱
為了一人一個均勻地分給
失去了星星的人
他擦著皮鞋，擦擦星星。
整天孤單單坐在路邊
也收拾裝進人們腳下被踩踏
打滾的昨晚的流星
也拿來裝進藏在天上的白日星星。
這個世界所有的星光都拿在一手
像母親每天早上擦鏡子般
擦擦讓我擦鞋的人的生命。
肩起裝滿著晚間星星的擦鞋箱
走在冬天夜晚的小巷子裏
人們一個個抱著星星回去
跟著聚集在腳跡的星風聲
只有像乾樹葉般的手滾過去。

"A Shoeshine Boy"
Shining shoes, he shines stars.
Having filled the shoeshine box with the stars he plucked at daybreak,
To give away to those who lost their stars
One for everyone evenly,
He shines stars, as he shines shoes.
Sitting alone all day long on the street,
He picks up and puts away the shooting stars of last night
Trampled on under the feet and rolling about,
And pulls out and puts away stars of the daylight hiding in the sky as well.
Pulling together all the starlight of the world by the hand,
As his mother shines the mirror every morning,
He shines the lives of those who ask him to shine their shoes.
Carrying on his shoulder the shoeshine box filled with evening stars
To walk in an alley in a winter night,
People return one by one hugging a star,
Following the sound of starred wind collecting in the traces of the feet,
Only the hands like fallen leaves roll away.

"구두 닦는 소년"
구두를 닦으며 별을 닦는다.
구두통에 새벽별 가득 따 담고
별을 잃은 사람들에게
하나씩 골고루 나눠주기 위해
구두를 닦으며 별을 닦는다.
하루내 길바닥에 홀로 앉아서
사람들 발 아래 짓밟혀 나뒹구는
지난밤 별똥별도 주워서 담고
하늘 숨은 낮별도 꺼내 담는다.
이 세상 별빛 한 손에 모아
어머니 아침마다 거울을 닦듯
구두 닦는 사람들 목숨 닦는다.
저녁별 가득 든 구두통 메고
겨울밤 골목길 걸어서 가면
사람들은 하나씩 별을 안고 돌아가고
발자국에 고이는 별바람 소리 따라
가랑잎 같은 손만 굴러서 간다.
