〈守歲〉

 

寒齋孤燭坐侵晨，

餞罷殘年暗損神。

恰似江南爲客日，

夕陽亭畔送佳人。

 

 

손필대 (자는 이원, 호는 세한재, 1599-?)

 

"섣달 그믐밤 지키기"

 

싸늘한 서재에 외로운 촛불 하나 밝히고

      새벽까지 깨어 앉아

올 한 해 남은 시간을 보내려 하니

      알게 모르게 마음이 허전합니다

꼭 강 남쪽에서

      나그네로 지내던 나날에

해 지는 정자 옆에서

      좋은 사람을 보내던 것 같습니다

Staying up until dawn

        In the chill study with a lone candle,

To bid farewell to the remaining time of the year,

        Puts my spirit in distress.

It feels like in the days

        Of my sojourn in the south of the river,

Sending off a lover

        By a pavilion in the setting sun.
