佔去向陽不結冰的水

就算野鴨不一定是都喜歡寒風凜冽的天空的

因為天氣冷

 

牠們想要進去的只是魚漂浮動的

那水波輕拍的黑色水而已

Having been robbed of warm spots,

And pushed out barefooted on to the ice, they curl up and squat down,

Until the anglers would leave.

 

Things related to humans, they do not need any.

They just look at the water, unfrozen,

All day long.

 

For what on earth the people come to a pond as this on the back country,

And seize the water not getting frozen, being full of sunshine?

All day long.

 

Even wild ducks, not all of them like the sky fill with chill wind.

That is because the weather is cold.

 

The only place that they wish to enter is the dark water

With lapping waves and bobbing fishing floats.

The sun is setting in the mountain.

그들은 따뜻한 자리를 빼앗기고

맨발로 얼음 위로 밀려나 웅크리고 앉아 있다

낚시꾼들이 떠날 때까지

 

그들은 인간의 것은 어떤 것도 필요로 하지 않는다

얼지 않은 물을 바라볼 뿐이다

하루 종일

 

어쩌자고 사람들은 이 오지의 저수지까지 찾아와서

얼지 않고 양지바른 물을 차지하는 것일까

하루 종일

 

오리라고 찬 바람 부는 하늘을 다 좋아하는 것은 아니다

날이 춥기 때문이다

 

그들이 들어가고 싶은 곳은 오직 낚시찌가 떠 있는

저 찰랑거리는 검은 물밖에 없다

산에 해가 지고 있다
