〈與孫女賽跑〉

 

六歲嬌孫提賽跑，

路分五段競何如。

誰知老腳全程敗，

假作從容裝有餘。

"손녀와의 뜀박질 내기"

 

여섯 살 예쁜 손녀가

      뜀박질 내기를 하자고 했습니다

길을 다섯 구간으로 나누어

      겨루어 보는 게 어떻겠냐 물었습니다

내 늙은 다리가 내기 전체를

      모두 질 줄을 누가 알았겠습니까

급할 것 없는 척 서두를 것 없는 척

      억지로 여유를 부리는 수밖에 없었습니다

"A Race with A Granddaughter"

 

An adorable six-year-old granddaughter

        Suggested me to run a race with her.

How about dividing the road

        Into five sections, she asked.

Who could know that the old legs

        Would lose the entire distance?

I could only fake that I had no reason to scurry,

        And hide the shock behind elegance.

 

               Note: This poem is dedicated to Kalina Minoo. Without a race with her, this poem may have never been found.
