〈旅遊唐城，贈先王樂官〉

 

人事盛還衰，浮生實可悲。

誰知天上曲，來向海邊吹。

水殿看花處，風欞對月時。

攀髯今已矣，與爾淚雙垂。

 

               注：《東國風雅》本，題作〈夜贈樂官〉。五句〈水殿〉為帝王乘坐之游船。七句〈攀髯〉，帝王昇遐臣子哀悼之謂也。語出自《史記·封禪書》，黃帝乘龍升天，群臣後宮共乘者七十餘，不得上龍者持龍鬚，龍鬚拔落，百姓抱之號哭之事也。

사람의 일은 성했다 쇠했다 한다지만

떠돌이의 삶은 실로 슬픕니다

 

하늘나라의 노래를

바닷가를 향해 불 줄 누가 알았겠습니까

 

임금이 타신 배에서 꽃을 보는 자리

바람부는 창가에서 달을 마주하는 때

 

용의 수염에 매달리기는 이미 늦었으니

그대와 함께 두 줄기 눈물을 흘립니다

 

           주: 《동국풍아》는 제목을 "밤에 악사에게 드린다"로 수록했습니다. 다섯째 행의 "수전水殿"은 임금이 타는 배를 이릅니다. 일곱째 행의 "반수攀髯"는 제왕이 승하한 후 신하들이 애도함을 말하는 데, 출전은 《사기·봉선서》입니다. 황제黃帝가 용을 타고 하늘로 올라갈 때, 신하와 후궁 칠 십여 명은 함께 용에 올라탔지만, 타지 못한 많은 사람들이 용의 수염을 부여잡고 오르려 했다고 합니다. 수염이 빠져 떨어졌고, 백성들은 그 수염을 안고 통곡했다는 이야기를 전합니다.

"Sauntering in the Tang Capital, I Present This to a Court Musician of the Late King"

 

Human affairs alternate between rising and falling,

Yet a floating life is still saddening indeed.

 

Who could have known that the Heavenly music

I would play toward the sea?

 

The place to look at flowers in the Royal vessel;

The time to face the moon by the windy window…

 

I am mindful that it is too late to grab the dragon's whiskers.

You and I shall let the tears flow in two lines.

 

               Note: This poem is also known with an alternative title: "Presented at Night to a Musician." Su-jōn 水殿 in Line #5, literally "water palace," sometimes refers to the vessel the king rides on. Pan-yōm 攀髯 in Line #7 stands for mourning by the subjects when the sovereign passes away.  A story recorded in the "Book of Fengshan Sacrifice" in the Shiji has it that when the Yellow Emperor passed away and ascended to Heaven on a dragon, some seventy ministers and concubines were on the dragon as well.  Those who were unable to ride on the dragon grabbed the dragon's whiskers, and tried to hold on.  The whiskers were plucked, and people wailed, holding the fallen whiskers.
