정각,"기괴한 바위 恠石"

鄭墧（字仲喬，號進菴，1799-1879）

 

〈恠石〉

 

苔顔縛縛巧天工，

不與人間積石同。

古恠受形神禹篚，

蒼玄帶色女媧穹。

全身短小寧呼丈，

頭角嵯峨却似童。

靜裏默觀奇氣鬱，

元靈何處不相通。

 

               注：頷聯以〈女媧穹〉對〈神禹篚〉。神禹篚出自《尚書·禹貢》：「厥貢漆絲，厥篚織文」、「厥貢漆絲，厥篚織文」等句，女媧穹出自《淮南子·覽冥訓》：「於是女媧煉五色石以補蒼天。」

"기괴한 바위"

 

얼기설기 엮인 이끼 낀 얼굴은

      하늘의 솜씨가 만든 정교함

사람들이 쌓아 올린

      돌과는 다릅니다

 

예스러운 기괴함은

      우임금의 대광주리에서 받은 모습

푸르스름한 어두움은

      여와의 하늘이 띈 색깔

 

전체의 키가 작기는 해도

      아저씨라고 부르는 게 좋겠는데

머리 끝이 삐죽삐죽 높아서

      오히려 어린아이를 닮았습니다

 

차분함 속에 말없이 바라보니

      묘한 기운이 눌러 옵니다

그 신령함이 어느 곳이라

      통하지 않겠습니까

 

           주: 둘째 연은 "여와의 하늘"로 "우임금의 대광주리"와 댓구를 이룹니다. 우임금의 대광주리는 《상서·우공》편에 기록이 있고, 여와의 하늘은 여와가 다섯 가지 생의 돌을 제련해 하늘을 보수했다는 《회남자·남명훈》편의 이야기에서 나옵니다.

"An Uncanny Rock"

 

The rugged, moss-covered face

        Is the work of heavenly craft,

Different from rocks

        Piled up by people.

 

The archaic mystery takes the form

        From the bamboo basket of Divine Yu;

The bluish darkness carries the colors

        In the sky of Goddess Nüwa.

 

The total height is short and tiny,

        Yet I would rather call it an uncle figure;

The horns on the head are precipitous

        But resemble kids.

 

As I look at it quietly in stillness,

        The uncanny breath it emits is dense.

Which places would the spirit and soul

        Be impeded from flowing.

 

               Note: The second couplet makes a parallel matching between "Divine Yu's basket" and "Goddess Nüwa's Sky." The former comes from the "Yugong" Chapter of the Book of Documents, and the latter alludes to the story that Goddess Nüwa smelt rocks of five colors to mend the sky, recorded in the Huainanzi.
