駱駝據說是為了躲開天敵到沙漠去的

我也是為了躲開叫做資本主義的天敵到山裏去的

在山上窩棚裏整整三年汲來泉水煮飯

打柴燒火來過日子

白天跟著放山人掘採藥草

晚上如游擊隊員般唱了〈芙蓉山〉

 

郵差不來，耶和華見證人也不來的

積雪重重的日子裏，我也會像精神失常似地

嘮嘮叨叨自言自語

但那還是我一生最完整的時間了

 

               注：芙蓉山，位於韓國全羅南道筏橋邑之小山。〈芙蓉山〉，朴基東（或作朴璣東）詞，安成絃曲，原為亡妹或亡弟子唱之祭歌，後為左翼人士所愛唱，因而被視為禁忌，之後僅在民間口傳之歌曲，二十世紀最後數年才公開流傳。歌詞略說：「芙蓉山中五里路，唯有草坪青又青。松樹之間乘旋風，無言無語君離去。始終未得至花開，病弱玫瑰凋謝去。芙蓉山中小主峰，唯有天空青又青。」

"A Camel That Went to the Mountain"

 

Camels, they say, went to the desert to dodge natural enemies.

I, too, have been to the mountain to spurn my natural enemy called capitalism.

For three years, dwelling in a dugout in the mountain, I cooked with water I drew from a spring,

And burned the wood I collected to live.

During the day, I followed around wild ginseng collectors, digging medicinal herbs,

At night, I sang "Hibiscus Mountain" like a partisan guerrilla.

 

On certain days when snow piled up and neither postman

Nor Jehovah's Witness would come, like someone who lost his mind,

I mumbled alone to myself,

But those were the most unimpaired days of my life.

 

               Note: Pu-yong-san, translated here as Hibiscus Mountain, is a small hill located in Pōl-gyo, Korea.  "Hibiscus Mountain" is a song composed by An Sōng-hyōn to a poem written by Pak Ki-dong.  It is originally written for either a sister or a student who died young, but was popular among leftists including partisan guerrillas. For this reason, it was tabooed for a long time, and was transmitted only orally, until toward the end of the twentieth century.  The oral transmission caused textual inconsistencies. Here is one that is perhaps the most widely circulated: "On the five-mile path in the Hibiscus Mountain,/ Only the grassland is green, so green./ Between pine trees in the woods,/ Riding on a whirlwind,/ Without a word of farewell,/ You have left me./ Without ever blooming even once,/ The ailing rose withered./ Over the peak of the Hibiscus Mountain,/ Only the sky is blue, so blue."

낙타는 천적을 피해 사막으로 갔다는군

나도 자본주의라는 천적을 피해 산으로 갔었어

산막에서 삼 년 동안 샘물 길어다 밥 짓고

나무를 해 때며 살았지

낮엔 심마니들 쫓아다니며 약초를 캐고

밤엔 빨치산처럼 '부용산' 노래를 불렀어

 

우체부도 여호와의 증인도 오지 않는

눈 쌓인 어떤 날엔 실성한 놈처럼

혼자 중얼대기도 했지만

내 생애 가장 온전한 날들이었어

 

           주: 부용산은 전라남도 벌교읍에 위치한 높이 해발 95미터에 불과한 작은 산입니다. "부용산"는 박기동이 가사를 쓰고, 안성현이 곡을 붙인 노래입니다. 원래는 죽은 누이, 혹은 죽은 제자를 위해 지은 노래인데 빨치산을 포함한 좌익계열의 사람들 애창했고, 그래서 금기시된 노래가 되었고, 20세기말에 이르러 공개적으로 불리기 시작했습니다. 오랜 시간 구전으로 전해져 가사가 일치하지 않지만, 대충 이런 내용입니다. "부용산 오리길에/ 잔디만 푸르러 푸르러/ 솔밭 사이사이로/ 회오리바람 타고/ 간다는 말 한마디 없이/ 너는 가고 말았구나/ 피어나지 못한 채/ 병든 장미는 시들어지고/ 부용산 봉우리에/ 하늘만 푸르러 푸르러"
