許徽（字徽之，號退菴，1568-1652）

 

〈江都除夕〉

 

守歲江都夜，山中百感生。

京鄉隔一水，殘燭照三更。

 

               注：江都指江華島，位於京畿灣北的漢江江口。高麗高宗19年（1232）蒙古入侵，高麗王室暫遷都至江華後稱之為江都。

"강도에서 섣달 그믐에"

 

강화도에서 지내는 한 해의 마지막 밤

산 속에 있으니 백 가지 생각이 떠오릅니다

도성과 이 시골은 물길 하나 사이

스러져가는 촛불이 한밤중까지 비춥니다

 

           주: 강도(강도)는 강화도를 말합니다. 고려 고종 19년 (1232) 몽고의 침입을 받아 고려왕실이 잠시 강화로 천도한 후 강도라는 이름이 생겼다고 합니다.

"Last Day of the Year in Kang-do, the Capital off the River"

 

In the last night of the year that I spend in the Capital off the River,

Hundred thoughts arise in the mountain.

The capital and the countryside are separated just by a waterway,

And a flickering candle holds up until the middle of the night.

 

               Note: Kang-do, the Capital off the River, refers to Kang-hwa Island, located at where the Han River meets the Yellow Sea. This name was used from when the capital of Koryō (918-1392) was temporarily moved to the island when the Mongols invaded in the nineteenth year of King Ko-jong (1232).
