김극기, "잉불역 仍弗驛"

〈仍弗驛〉

 

悠悠山下路，信轡詠涼天。

水有含芒蟹，林無翳葉蟬。

溪聲淸似雨，野氣淡如煙。

入夜投孤店，村夫尙未眠。

 

               注：仍弗驛，位於慶州南方之驛站。頷聯具體說明季節背景：夏轉秋。《海錄瑣事》：「蟹，八月腹中有芒，芒真稻芒也，長寸許，東輸海神，未輸不可食。」四句說，曾茂盛之樹葉及其中鳴叫之蟬。

"잉불역"

 

산 아래 길게 늘어진 길로

말 고삐만 잡은 채 시원한 날을 노래합니다

 

물에는 벼까라기를 머금은 게가 있고;

숲에는 나뭇잎에 가려진 매미가 없습니다

 

시냇물 소리가 비처럼 맑고

들판의 바람은 안개같이 잔잔합니다

 

밤이 깊어 외로운 주막에 들었는데

시골 남자는 아직 잠들지 않았습니다

 

           주: 잉불역은 경주 남쪽에 있던 역참입니다. 둘째 연은 첫째 연에서 잠시 이야기한, 여름이 끝나고 가을로 접어드는 계절적 배경을 구체적으로 이야기합니다. 세째 행은 《해록쇄사》에 수록된 게의 이야기입니다. "음력 팔월이 되면 게의 뱃속에 까끄라기가 있는데, 그건 벼까라기이다. 한 치 정도의 길이로 동해의 신에게 전달한다. 전달하기 전에는 먹을 수 없다." 네째 행은 한 때 무성했던 나뭇잎도 그 안에서 울던 매미도 없음을 이야기합니다.

"Ying-bul Post Station"

 

Along the long path at the mountain's foot,

I slacken the reins on horseback, singing of a cool day.

 

In the stream, crabs harbor awns in them;

In the woods, no leaves remain to shield the cicadas.

 

The sound of the torrent is crisp as falling rain;

The wind in the field is gentle as drifting mist.

 

Night falls as I come to a lonely lodge,

Where the rustic man has not yet gone to bed.

 

               Note: Ying-bul was a post station located south of Kyōng-ju. The second couplet gives the specifics of seasonal background hinted on in the first couplet: transition into autumn. Line #3 alludes to a story of crabs recorded in the Record of Trivial Matters of the Sea: "In the eighth moon, there are prickly things in crabs.  They are real awns of rice, to be carried to the God of the East Sea. The crabs are not edible until the awns are delivered." The fourth line says that there are neither thick leaves of the summer nor the cicadas in them.
