〈又得朝字〉

 

烟景供吟眺，禪齋未寂寥。

精神生靜夜，氣象見平朝。

丘壑孤懷耿，羲軒一夢遙。

小山何意思，幽隱強招招。

 

               注：六句羲軒，伏羲氏與軒轅氏（即黃帝）之並稱。七句小山指淮南王劉安之門客。劉安好辭賦，〈淮南小山〉、〈淮南大山〉等為善於辭賦之門客常用之筆名。

"다시 '아침 조朝'를 운으로 얻습니다"

 

안개 낀 경치가 보면서 시를 읊으라 하니

참선하는 방에서도 적막해 외롭지 않습니다

 

잘 닦은 마음은 조용한 밤에 생겨나고

기운 찬 모습은 떠오르는 아침 해에서 보이지요

 

깊은 산과 아늑한 골짜기에서 홀로 가슴 속을 밝히고

복희씨 헌원씨 때로 멀리 꿈을 꿉니다

 

세속의 문인들은 무슨 이유로

그윽하게 숨어사는 사람을 억지로 불러내려 하나요

 

           주: 여섯 째 행의 희헌은 복희씨와 헌원씨를 함께 부르는 어휘입니다. 중국의 신화시대 가장 현명한 지도자였던 두 사람을 함께 거명하는 것은 시인의 삶이 그러한 시대를 꿈꾼다는 뜻이기도 합니다. 일곱 째 행의 '작은 산'은 회남왕 유안의 문객들을 말합니다. 유안의 문객 중에는 왕이 즐기던 문학장르였던 사부(辭賦)에 능한 사람들이 많았습니다. 그들은 종종 "회남의 작은 산", "회남의 큰 산"등을 필명으로 썼습니다.

"Obtaining Another Word, 'Morning,' as Rhyme for Composing a Poem"

 

The misty scene offering me to view it and to write a poem

Makes this chamber for meditation not desolate and lonely.

 

The refined spirit rises in quiet nights;

The image of stimulation is seen in the rising sun.

 

I illuminate my thoughts in deep mountains and quiet valleys;

And my dream saunters to the times of Fuxi and the Yellow Emperor.

 

Why the men of letters

Call out so forcibly someone living in seclusion.

 

               Notes: The word at the beginning of the sixth line, Xi-Xuan, refers to Fuxi and Xuanyuan, aka. the Yellow Emperor.  The use of this term here shows the poet's wishes to return to the eras of those legendary leaders.  The word, xiaoshan, literally, "small hills," refers to guest scholars in the residence of Liu An, Prince of Huainan.  The prince enjoyed rhyme-prose, and many resident writers used "small hill" as penname.
