幾年勞種竹，

蒼鬱已成林。

密葉籠烟重，

叢條帶雨深。

招凉由禀氣，

絕俗自其心。

却愛池塘月，

扶疎不作陰。

"대나무"

 

몇 년을 애써서 대나무를 심었더니

울창해져 이미 숲을 이루었습니다

 

빽빽한 이파리 안개에 덮여 무겁고

촘촘한 가지 비를 머금어 깊습니다

 

서늘함을 부르는 건 하늘이 주신 기운이고

속됨을 끊는 건 스스로의 마음이지요

 

연못의 달을 좋아하는 건 분명합니다

무성하면서도 그늘을 만들지 않네요

"Bamboo Trees"

 

The hard work of planting continued for years,

And the bamboo trees are exuberant, already forming a forest.

 

Dense leaves are heavy, covered with mist;

Thick branches are deep, carrying the rain.

 

Bringing coolness is the power endowed by heaven;

Severing the profane is in their own heart.

 

They must be fond of the moon in the pond—

Its luxuriance does not make any shade.
