〈鷄冠花〉二首之二

 

鷄頭尖角也非花，

忒訝幽芳絳幘加。

醬甕東西增一格，

鳳仙紅白共繁華。

"맨드라미" 두 수의 둘째

 

닭 머리 꼭대기 뾰족한 뿔도

         분명 꽃은 아니지만

그윽한 향기가 붉은 두건을

         쓴 것 아닌가 의심하네

 

장독대 이쪽 저쪽을

         한껏 아름답게 꾸미면서

봉선화 붉은 꽃 흰 꽃과 함께

         흐드러지게 피는 구나

"Cockscombs": Second of Two Poems

 

The sharp horns atop the rooster's head

            Are certainly not a flower,

But I wonder if these are

            A hidden aroma kerchiefed in red.

 

Adding delights to here and there

            By the sauce crocks terrace,

They bloom splendidly

            With the red and white touch-me-nots.
