〈詠黃梅〉

 

疏影暗香今略忘，

寒光雪月憶茫茫。

代之碩果纍纍掛，

芒種薰風粒粒黃。

（乙巳芒種後數日）

 

반빈

 

"노란 매실"

 

성근 그림자도 그윽한 향기도

      이제는 거의 잊었습니다

눈에 비치는 차가운 달빛도

      기억이 아득합니다

그걸 대신해 큼직한 열매가

      주렁주렁 매달려

망종 따스한 바람에

      한 알 한 일 노랗게 익었습니다

 

           주: "성근 그림자"와 "그윽한 향기"로 옮긴 소영疏影과 암향暗香은 송나라 초기의 시인 임보 (林逋, 967-1028)의 매화에 대한 시에서 나온 매화에 대한 은유적 표현으로 매화의 다른 이름으로 쓰일 정도로 널리 알려져 있습니다.

"Yellow Plums"

 

The sparse shadows and surreptitious aroma

        Are now almost forgotten.

Of the chill light of the moon on the snow

        My memories are faint.

Instead, plump fruits

        Are hanging in clusters,

Turning yellows one after one

        In the warm breeze of the barley harvest day.

 

               Note: The phrases shuying 疏影 and anxiang 暗香, translated here as "sparse shadow" and "surreptitious aroma," come from a poem by an early Song poet, Lin Bu (林逋, 967-1028). These are metaphorical renditions of plum blossoms, treated almost as alternative names of the flower.
