〈三山路上得一絕〉

 

騎馬悠悠行不行，石橋東畔小童清。

問君何處尋春好，花未開時草欲生。

 

                注：三山猶指方丈、蓬萊、瀛洲等海上三神山。

말을 타고 느릿느릿

      가는 건지 가지 않는 건지

돌다리 동쪽 기슭에

      어린 아이들 해맑습니다

말 한 마디 묻자

      어디서 봄을 찾으면 좋을까

꽃이 아직 피지 않았을 때는

      풀 돋아나려는 곳으로 가세요

 

            주: 삼산은 방장, 봉래, 영주등 바다 가운데 있다는 신선의 산 셋을 지칭하는 듯합니다.

Riding leisurely on the horseback,

        I wonder if I am moving or not.

On the shore at the east end of a stone bridge

        Are kids spotlessly innocent.

Allow me to ask you: Which places

        May be good to search for the spring season?

When flowers are not yet in bloom,

        You may go to where plants are about to sprout out.

 

                Note: "Three Mountains" seems to refer to three mountains for celestials, Fangzhang, Penglai, and Yingzhou, in the middle of the sea.
