〈偶吟寄宋明甫浚吉〉

 

歲晏魚龍蟄，天寒霜露多。

山河正搖落，君子意如何。

 

               注：宋浚吉（字明甫，號同春堂，1606-1672），朝鮮後期之文臣，學者。於〈禮訟〉之辯，支持宋時烈（字英甫，號尤庵，1607-1689），與詩人政治立場相反。

 

윤휴 (자는 두괴, 희중, 호는 백호, 하헌, 1617-1680)

 

"어쩌다 읊어 명보 송준길에게 보냅니다"

 

세월이 평안하면 물고기나 용이 숨어들까요

하늘이 싸늘해 서리와 이슬이 많기도 합니다

산과 강이 모두 흔들려 무너지고 있는데

수양하며 사는 사람들의 마음은 어떨까요

 

           주: 송준길(자는 명보, 호는 동춘당, 1606-1672)은 조선 후기의 문신이자 학자입니다. 예송논쟁에서 송시열(1607-1689)을 지지했으니, 시인과는 정치적 입장이 상반되었던 인물입니다.

Would fish and dragons alike hide themselves in peaceful times?

The sky is chilly, with so much frost and dew.

Mountains and rivers are shaking and crumbling.

What would people of moral cultivation think of this?

 

               Note: Song Chun-gil (1606-1672), a civil official and scholar in the latter period of Chosōn, supported Song Shi-yōl (1607-1689) in the "Ritual Controversy" after the death of King Hyo-jong.  He belonged to the opposite faction of the poet.
